35 years ago, Breast Cancer Awareness Month was created as a dedication to the ongoing fight so many women face every single day. 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer at some point during their lifetime, but no one has to fight alone — our certified specialists are here to support you while you or a loved one is healing and answer any questions you may have about breast health post-surgery. Early detection is the best protection, so don’t forget to check yourself today!
Some things to look for:
Changes in skin texture (dimpling, puckering)
Any lumps, bumps, or thickening on the breast
Unusual nipple discharge
Nipple inversion or change of direction
Swelling in or around your armpit and/or collar bone
Any constant pain in your breast or armpit
Sudden changes in shape or size
Redness, rashes, or crusting of the nipple or surrounding area
Make sure you check all the way up to your collarbone and in your armpits, both while laying down and standing up. It’s important to do a breast self-examination at least once a month, and if in doubt, see your doctor and get checked out.
